Overview

Clerk Chat, built by Clerk Chat, Inc.

of San Francisco, is one product sold in two halves.

The first half is business messaging and calling: two-way SMS and MMS, mass texting, voice, WhatsApp, RCS Business Messaging and Apple Business Chat in one inbox, delivered inside Microsoft Teams as a Microsoft 365 certified app, with SMS on Teams calling-plan numbers and carrier routing through Operator Connect or your own carrier.

The second half is the agent layer, marketed as Clerk AI: an AI receptionist that answers every call and text, voice and RCS agents that verify and qualify inbound leads, and a real-time CRM agent that reads contact details and history and writes summaries, notes and outcomes back into the CRM.

For demand-generation teams the argument is speed to lead.

Clerk Chat cites the familiar benchmark that leads contacted within five minutes are far more likely to convert, and the agents exist to act inside that window: answering after hours and at weekend peaks, qualifying intent by voice or message, booking the meeting, then logging the outcome without a human touch.

Ultimate adds mass texting campaigns, scheduled SMS, templates, shared inbox, round-robin assignment and analytics, and vertical playbooks are published for real estate, healthcare, field services, logistics and financial services.

The compliance stack is unusually deep for this price band: HIPAA, SOC 2 Type II, US data centres, TCPA opt-out handling, 10DLC registration, archiving with audit trails and automatic sync to Microsoft Purview, Global Relay and Smarsh for FINRA and SEC review.

Make-A-Wish is published as a customer running it across 50-plus chapters.

Pricing read on 16 September 2026 at clerk.chat/pricing lists Growth at $9.99 per user per month and Ultimate at $19.99 per user per month, with $60 a year saved on annual billing, and a seat is either a user or a phone number.

The agents themselves, plus WhatsApp, RCS, Apple Business Chat and fax, are all priced as contact-us, each CRM connector (HubSpot, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics) is a $15 per seat per month add-on and 10DLC registration is $120 a year.

Published rates cover the US and Canada only and messaging falls under a fair-use policy, so the headline seat price is not the bill: a ten-seat team with one CRM connector lands well above $9.99 a seat, and agent pricing has to be negotiated.

Teams already standardised on Microsoft Teams get the most from it, and buyers outside North America should confirm carrier support before committing.

Use Cases

Answering every inbound call and text after hours, at weekends and during campaign spikes, and booking the appointment automatically

Qualifying inbound leads by voice or message and routing only the ones worth a rep

Running mass-texting campaigns and scheduled SMS follow-ups from the same inbox that handles replies

Syncing every conversation outcome into Salesforce, HubSpot or Dynamics so lead scoring and attribution see the messaging channel

Meeting archiving and eDiscovery requirements in regulated industries without bolting on a separate compliance tool

Who Is This For

Demand-generation and SDR teams that lose leads to slow first response

Local and multi-location businesses in real estate, field services, healthcare, logistics and financial services that live on phone and SMS

Microsoft Teams shops that want calling, texting and AI agents inside the tools the team already uses

CRM owners who need conversation data written back into Salesforce, HubSpot, Dynamics or Pipedrive automatically

Regulated teams that must archive every message and call with an audit trail for FINRA, SEC or HIPAA review

Key Features

Real-time CRM agent

Reads contact details, history and past interactions from Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics or Pipedrive, then writes summaries, notes and outcomes back in real time, so records stay current without manual logging.

AI receptionist and voice agents

Answers calls and texts 24/7, qualifies the caller, books the appointment and hands off to a human with the context attached, deployed on your existing phone number through Teams.

Speed-to-lead automation

New leads are picked up the moment they arrive, qualified by voice or message and routed by intent, which is the window most manual lead-response processes miss.

One inbox across SMS, voice, WhatsApp and RCS

Two-way messaging, mass texting, voice and rich channels share an interface, with campaigns, scheduled SMS, templates, variables and round-robin assignment on the Ultimate tier.

Compliance and eDiscovery built in

HIPAA and SOC 2 Type II, TCPA opt-out handling, 10DLC registration, archival with full timestamps, and automatic sync of every conversation to Microsoft Purview, Global Relay or Smarsh.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Agent work runs end to end: answer, qualify, book and log the outcome in the CRM across voice, SMS, WhatsApp and RCS
  • Native to Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 certified, so calling and texting land where the team already works
  • Unusually deep compliance for the price band: HIPAA, SOC 2 Type II, TCPA opt-out, 10DLC registration and eDiscovery archiving to Purview, Global Relay and Smarsh
  • Real-time CRM reads and writes across Salesforce, HubSpot, Dynamics and Pipedrive, with contact lists and segments that refresh themselves
  • Published per-seat pricing ($9.99 and $19.99 per user per month) rather than quote-only enterprise tiers

Cons

  • AI agents, WhatsApp, RCS and Apple Business Chat have no published price at all - every one is contact-us
  • Each CRM connector is a $15 per seat per month add-on and 10DLC registration adds $120 a year, so real cost climbs quickly
  • Listed prices and carrier coverage are for the US and Canada only, which complicates EMEA and APAC rollouts
  • Messaging sits under a fair-use policy and a seat is either a user or a phone number, so shared numbers can double-count

Clerk Chat is one of the few conversational platforms we have reviewed where the agent works on real CRM records rather than inside a chat window: its real-time CRM agent page states that the AI reads contact details and history and writes summaries, notes and outcomes back into Salesforce, HubSpot, Dynamics or Pipedrive. The published pricing we read on 16 September 2026 - $9.99 per user per month for Growth and $19.99 for Ultimate - is refreshing in a category that mostly quotes by demo, and the compliance depth (HIPAA, SOC 2 Type II, 10DLC, Purview, Global Relay and Smarsh archiving) is unusual at this price.

Our reservations are about total cost and geography. The AI agents, WhatsApp, RCS and Apple Business Chat carry no published price, each CRM connector is $15 per seat per month, 10DLC registration is $120 a year, and the rates shown apply to the US and Canada only. For a ten-person team outside North America, model the connectors and confirm carrier support before treating $9.99 a seat as the real number.
