Overview

Copy.ai started life as one of the best-known AI copywriting tools and has since rebuilt itself as a go-to-market AI platform.

The current product is organized around four components.

Workflows chain modular Actions into repeatable processes that codify how a team actually works - an SEO article brief, an account plan, an inbound lead triage - and can be triggered by events rather than run by hand.

Copy Agents are constrained agents that make goal-oriented micro-decisions inside a workflow step while operating within developer-defined guardrails, so automation covers judgment calls instead of just text generation.

Tables act as the unified data layer: structured and unstructured data from a website, CRM, documents and call transcripts is centralized, made searchable, and used to trigger or enrich workflows.

Brand Voice analyzes existing on-brand content to generate new copy in the same register, and multiple voices can coexist for different authors or audiences.

The repositioning changes who the product is for and what it costs.

Pricing as published on 21 September 2026 is seat-based with credit metering.

Chat is $29 per month billed monthly, or $24 per month billed annually ($288 per year), for 5 seats with unlimited words in chat, unlimited chat projects and access to OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models.

Growth is $1,000 per month ($12,000 per year) for 75 seats and 20,000 workflow credits a month; Expansion is $2,000 per month ($24,000 per year) for 150 seats and 45,000 credits; Scale is $3,000 per month ($36,000 per year) for 200 seats and 75,000 credits; and Enterprise is quoted with guided jumpstart implementation, API access and bulk workflow runs.

A workflow credit is the platform unit of compute - Copy.ai documents a credit as the processing power needed to execute tasks inside a workflow, such as generating content or scanning websites - so throughput is governed by credits rather than by seats.

For marketing teams the practical read is straightforward.

If you want a chat interface with unlimited words for a small team, Chat is competitive at $29 a month for five seats.

If you want Copy.ai to run content operations - briefs, localization, account-based personalization, lead and account intelligence, CRM enrichment - you are buying Growth or above, and that is a five-figure annual commitment that needs a real workflow behind it to earn its place.

There is no published free plan; the calls to action on the pricing page are a free trial and a demo.

The second caveat is the shape of the ladder: the gap between the $29 Chat tier and the $1,000 Growth tier leaves nothing in between, so teams that outgrow chat but are not ready for enterprise-scale automation have to stay put or jump.

Judged purely as a copywriting tool it now looks expensive next to the writing assistants; judged as workflow automation with a content layer, it competes with the automation and GTM platforms instead.

Key Features

Workflows and the Actions Library

Chain modular Actions into repeatable, event-triggered processes that codify how your team works instead of re-prompting from scratch every time.

Copy Agents

Constrained agents make goal-oriented micro-decisions inside a workflow step while staying inside guardrails, keeping automation predictable enough to run unattended.

Tables as a Unified Data Layer

Centralize structured and unstructured data from your website, CRM, documents and call transcripts, then search it, query it, and trigger workflows when it changes.

Brand Voice and Infobase

Analyze existing on-brand content or define voices manually, and keep several distinct voices for different authors, products or audiences.

GTM Integrations and API

Connections to go-to-market systems plus API access and bulk workflow runs on enterprise plans, with SOC 2 compliance documented by the vendor.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Pricing is published in full, including seat counts and monthly credits: $29 Chat, $1,000 Growth, $2,000 Expansion, $3,000 Scale
  • Workflows plus Tables push it well past copywriting - the same platform runs briefs, localization, CRM enrichment and lead triage
  • The Chat tier is genuinely affordable for small teams: 5 seats, unlimited words in chat, unlimited projects, and access to OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models
  • Constrained Copy Agents with guardrails are a more defensible automation model than open-ended agent prompts
  • Annual billing cuts roughly 20 percent, and Enterprise adds guided implementation plus bulk API runs

Cons

  • No published free plan - the entry point is a trial, and the $29 Chat tier is a chat product rather than the workflow automation the positioning implies
  • The jump from $29 to $1,000 per month leaves no self-serve middle tier for teams that outgrow chat
  • Workflow credits rather than seats set the real ceiling: 20,000 a month on Growth means complex, multi-step flows consume budget quickly
  • The platform assumes a connected data layer of CRM, documents and transcripts, and without that context much of the automation value is unavailable
  • Copywriting-era features are no longer the headline, so buyers comparing it with dedicated writing assistants should check the current feature set carefully

Our editorial read: Copy.ai is now a workflow platform that generates content, not a copywriting tool with automation attached. That makes it strong for marketing operations teams with connected CRM and content data, and awkward for anyone who simply wants an affordable writing assistant - the self-serve ladder jumps from $29 to $1,000 a month, and credits rather than seats determine how much you can actually run.
